Church of Traladara

The philosophy of the Church of Traladara includes:

  1. That the acts of assault, abuse, murder, theft and lying are sins, brought on by weakness or the intrusion of bad-will from evil spirits.
  2. That the sins described above should be punished, in the manner that parents punish children: Physical punishment, imprisonment and the withholding of rights (even death in the case of extreme sinners who are a danger to others).
  3. That the role of the individual in the afterlife will be determined by the individual's state of wisdom, strength of character, and good-will at the time of his death.
  4. That the relationship of man to woman is a personal matter, not involving the philosophy of the Church unless one of the above sins is involved.
  5. That common magic ritual such as the use of lucky charms, tea-reading, palm-readings, card-readings and so forth are all declarations of man's curiosity about the world and determination to preserve himself from evil, and are often rewarded by the Gods with the gleaning of facts about the future or nature of the world
  6. That the events of "The Song of Halav" are absolutely true; that King Halav, Queen Petra and Zirchev are now gods guiding the righteous and punishing the wicked among the Traladarans and that the Golden Age of Traladara will one day return to the land.

Structure

The Church of Traladara has no official presence in Darokin (as it does in Karameikos to the south), and therefore has no official structure. Each Church is more or less left to its own devices, and there can sometimes be differences in policy between the official Church and outlander Churches.

Traladaran Gods and Godesses

Halav, God of Warfare, Red-Hair
Halav is the patron of the thinking-fighter; his clerics are expected to be tough fighters, master strategists, inspired leaders and excellent judges of character. Halav is a cold enemy of all humanoid races.
Symbol: A sword laid upon an anvil
Special: Clerics of Halav gain a -1 to difficulties involving fighting humanoids.
Ban: Halav's followers must never help humanoids.

Petra, Godess of Defenders
Petra is a very practical, no-nonsense goddess. She has a short temper for those who feel sorry for themselves, or who don't have the courage to accomplish their goals. She is a patron of fighting-clerics and defenders; she is often appealed to by those who live in beseiged cities.
Symbol: There is some discussion amongst various sects as to what Petra's symbol is - the more placid suggest it is an overhead view of a potters wheel, whereas the more violent claim it is is a circular shield with a large boss in the centre.
Special: Clerics of Petra have an additional dice to use in any stamina roll.
Ban: Petra's clerics must defend the weak at any cost.
Zirchev, The Huntsman, Herne
Zirchev is a patron to the lone huntsman, to the wild one within civilisation. He is also the patron of various forest races such as dryads, and centaurs. His clerics are often druid-like wild children on the forest.
Symbol: A hawk on the shoulders of a wolf.
Special: Clerics of Zirchev have a special affinity with the sentient creatures of the wilds and may be treated as one of the forest races.
Ban: Wanton destruction of forests infuriates Zirchev. His clerics must seek out and take vengeance on any who disrupt the forest.
