Differences and Similarities between W:tA and W:tF

The games are seriously different - you're still playing a werewolf, but there are more things different than the same.

  • There is no
    • world spanning conspiracy of EEEEEvil.
    • Wyrm/Weaver/Wyld.
    • impending apocalypse.
  • There is a spirit world (and gauntlet), but almost everything in there hates you and will eat you given a chance. You can only enter it from specific places (Loci)
  • There are no caerns/Septs. Its all about your Pack and the territory you hold.
  • There's less cooperation amongst werewolves (no Evil conspiracy = no pressing reason to cooperate). Even neighbouring packs don't tend to get on that well.
  • There are bad werewolves. ..... well, ok, there are werewolves that hate you just for being you. There's a lot of them out there.
  • There are places where the worlds nearly touch - Loci - and you can go into the spirit world. Its also where you can regenerate Essence (magic points).
  • There are no lupus or metis. Everyone is humans who can become wolves.
  • There are 5 auspices. They are mostly the same in concept, but its when you first change form, not birthdate.
  • There are 5 forms. You regenerate in all of them. You can't stay in the crinos-equivilent for very long (~4 turns), and it can only kill, kill, and kill again.
  • There are 5 types of renown - adding Purity & Cunning to the types that players can earn. You don't just get them, you have to buy with experience.
  • There are tribes, but you can join one (philosophical choice), rather than being born into it.
  • There is no Rage -> no multiple actions -> no furry chainsaws.
  • There are Gifts, and they are mostly the same in concept.
  • Rituals and ritualists are rare.
